newtowines: When @garyvee raves about a wine it raises a lot of eyebrows. The 2007 Il Fiume di Lava was a relative unknown thrust into the spotlight with an episode of the Daily Grape. The story goes that Franchetti, an Italian wine producer that has his triple-digit wines routinely score into the stratosphere from the Wine Advocate, didn’t quite think his 2007 production was up to snuff. End result? You’re essentially getting what normally retails for over $100 at around $40. That’s all well and good, but what’s it taste like? 2007 Il Fiume di Lava Etna Il Fiume Di Lava - Italy, Sicily, Etna DOC (5/15/2011) Rich dark fruit with an almost an incense-like note, red licorice, a hint of leather. So much stuff going on with the nose. Wow on the palate. Big black fruit with off-the-charts concentration, but this has so much minerality, acid, tannin. Beautiful notes of leather grip your palate and lasts for what seems like forever on the finish. This is really a beautiful wine and I’m in complete agreement with Gary V on this. Man Dies After Being Stabbed by Fighting Chicken

(EARLIMART, Calif.) — A man was stabbed and killed in Earlimart. His attacker, however, wasn’t a human — it was a fighting chicken.

Authorities say the incident happened on January 30 at a venue in the vicinity of Avenue 24 and Road 128 Tulare County. Investigators say a chicken with a blade attached to its leg reportedly stabbed 35-year-old Jose Luis Ochoa in the calf. The armed rooster is believed to have been used for fighting. Authorities say Ochoa was rushed to Delano Regional Medical Center, where he later died. An autopsy report found that Ochoa died as a result of an injury to his right calf, according to a report by theBakersfield Californian. 

Authorities reportedly found evidence of cockfighting at the location, however, it is unknown if a cockfight was in progress when the incident occurred.

Yesterday, October 24th, I was able to see my third Muse concert, this time in Newark, NJ. This is their tour for the album, “The Resistance”. They started around 9PM and muscled their way through until 10:50PM, putting on a spectacular concert.

After seeing several concerts, it’s understandable why Brian May from Queen said they were “probably the greatest live act in the world today.”
